Steve Strother, Head Coach / 200-400m Sprints / Relays

Steve Strother is the co-founder and Head Coach of the Blue Lightning Track Club and a Certified Double-Goal Coach with the Positive Coaching Alliance and brings tremendous experience and skill to youth athletes. He was a 4-time NCAA Track and Field All-American, 11-time All-SEC Sprinter, and SEC Champion. His team won four SEC Championships during his Auburn athletic career. Coach Strother was inducted into the New Rochelle, N.Y. Sports Hall of Fame in 2013, and was recently profiled by Auburn University to represent their School of Arts and Sciences to potential Auburn students around the world.

The Blue Lightning Track Club, formed in 2013, is an approved AAU and USA Track and Field youth club based in Conyers, GA. The club is led by Head Coach Steve Strother, a graduate of Auburn University where he trained and competed as a full scholarship athlete under Mel Rosen, 2-time Olympic Coach and head coach at Auburn University.

In addition to exposing youth to the exciting sport of track and field and the foundations of speed, strength, and endurance – Coach Strother, is known for fostering a positive and healthy team environment and unselfishly collaborating with other coaching resources to provide the best training to Blue Lightning Track Club athletes.

Coach Strother believes in a positive, motivational, and mentoring approach to coaching and uses a Champion’s Mantra with every athlete he coaches. The Champion’s Mantra – Coach Strother refers to all of his athletes as Champions, he motivates and builds his Champions up mentally and physically. He reinforces and instills confidence with every practice, activity, and communication. He believes in a no-negativity approach to our Champions and team, and that every obstacle is an opportunity to learn and improve.

In each practice and competition we motivate, encourage and challenge our athletes to pursue excellence and develop a Champion’s mindset in all their endeavors. We look forward to the opportunity to coach and mentor your Champions![/expander_maker]
